The Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress

The Arias Foundation is a private, non-profit organization registered in Costa Rica. Born in the transition toward peace in Central America, it focuses primarily on this region. It promotes dialogue as the best means of solving conflicts and differences, and favours the utilization of participatory models in decision-making.

Canadian Consortium on Human Security (CCHS)

The Canadian Consortium on Human Security (CCHS) is an academic-based network promoting policy-relevant research on human security. Its core missions are to facilitate the exchange of information and analysis on human security issues, and to help build a human security community in Canada and internationally. CCHS is funded by the Human Security Program of the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT).

Canadian Institute of Strategic Studies (CISS)

The CISS provides the forum for, and is the vehicle to stimulate the research, study, analysis and discussion of the strategic implications of major national and international security, issues, events and trends as they affect Canada.

Canadian Peacebuilding Coordinating Committee (CPCC)

The CPCC is a network of Canadian non-governmental organizations and institutions, academics and individuals engaged in a wide range of activities related to addressing the cause and consequences of violent conflict. The network encompasses organizations and individuals involved in providing humanitarian assistance, international development, conflict prevention and resolution, peace education, human rights promotion and protection, peace operations, post-conflict reconstruction and rehabilitation, and more.

Centre for International Policy (CIP)

The Centre for International Policy is a non-profit organization that promotes a U.S. foreign policy based on international cooperation, demilitarization and respect for basic human rights. It's program on Colombia offers a comprehensive source of information and analysis about Colombia's conflict, peaceful efforts to end it, and the United States' increasing military involvement.

Consultoría para los Derechos Humanos y el Desplazamiento (CODHES)

La Consultoría para los Derechos Humanos y el Desplazamiento (CODHES) es una entidad privada sin ánimo de lucro que promueve la defensa de los Derechos Humanos y la consolidación de la paz en Colombia por medio de la construcción de un trabajo en Red sobre el problema del desplazamiento forzado y la construcción de cultura ciudadana a través de una amplia divulgación y difusión del conocimiento generado por la investigación. Objetivos generales: contribuir a la promoción y protección de los Derechos Humanos, en especial de la población desplazada, a través de la investigación, el desarrollo de sistemas de información, análisis y formulación de alternativas institucionales y la construcción de soluciones sociales desde una perspectiva democrática y de convivencia pacifica.

Coordinadora Regional de Investigaciones Económicas y Sociales (CRIES)

La Coordinadora Regional de Investigaciones Económicas y Sociales (CRIES), fundada en Managua en 1982, es una red de centros de investigación, ONGs, asociaciones profesionales y fundaciones. CRIES promueve la investigación social y económica en los países de América Latina y el Caribe en base a la participación de la sociedad civil. Su trabajo se basa en el principio de que la consolidación institucional y democrática requiere monitoreo y compromiso activos. El propósito de CRIES apunta a la profundización de la participación de la sociedad civil en el proceso de integración regional y a la formulación e implementación de políticas públicas, así como a promover una agenda regional de integración, no sólo para asuntos comerciales, sino también de integración social, política y cultural. En la actualidad, CRIES cuenta con más de cincuenta y cuatro instituciones nacionales y regionales que participan en diversos programas de incidencia e investigación tanto a nivel subregional como regional. La investigación se centra en la creación de un modelo justo de desarrollo social que sea participativo y sustentable de cara al nuevo milenio.

Fundacion Ideas para la Paz (FIP), Colombia

La Fundación Ideas para la Paz (FIP) surge como resultado de la preocupación de un grupo de ciudadanos-empresarios por la grave situación del país y por la poca conciencia y el escaso conocimiento e información que la sociedad tiene sobre los procesos de paz en curso. Objectivos incluye: Hacer un seguimiento y evaluar sistemáticamente los procesos de negociación; mantener relaciones con gobiernos, centros de investigación e instituciones y fundaciones interesadas en el proceso de paz colombiano y en el intercambio de información útil sobre temas de interés común; generar y difundir información calificada a una "red de líderes de opinión"; promover e integrar los esfuerzos que realice la sociedad civil en relación con el logro de la paz; colaborar en el diseño y la implementación de aquellos proyectos que tendrán que ponerse en marcha durante la etapa del postconflicto.

Fundacion Ideas para la Paz (FIP) was created out of the concern of a group of business leaders over the serious situation in Colombia and the community's limited awareness and understanding of the ongoing efforts to achieve a peace settlement in the country. FIP is a "think tank" with the objectives to: maintain contact with governments, research centers and foundations that are interested in the Colombian peace process and in exchanging useful information on topics of mutual concern; compile reliable information and distribute it to those who mobilize public opinion; promote and consolidate peace efforts on the part of civil society; cooperate in the design and development of projects required in the wake of hostilities.

InterAction

InterAction is the largest alliance of U.S.-based international development and humanitarian nongovernmental organizations. With more than 160 members operating in every developing country, it strives to address issues of poverty, exclusion and suffering by advancing social justice and basic dignity for all.

International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ)

The International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) assists countries pursuing accountability for mass atrocity or human rights abuse. The Center works in societies emerging from repressive rule or armed conflict, as well as in established democracies where historical injustices or systemic abuse remain unresolved. It provides comparative information, legal and policy analysis, documentation, and strategic research to justice and truth-seeking institutions, nongovernmental organizations, governments and others.

International Conflict Research (INCORE)

INCORE was set up in 1993 by the University of Ulster and the United Nations University to undertake research and policy work that is useful to the resolution of ethnic, political and religious conflicts. Currently, INCORE's research focuses mainly on post conflict issues, issues of governance and diversity, and research methodology in violent societies.

International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Peacebuilding & Reconstruction Program Initiative

The Peacebuilding and Reconstruction Program Initiative (PBR PI) at IDRC promotes research, policy development, and capacity building in the South to support and explore the many complex links between peace, conflict, violence, and development. A majority of contemporary violent conflicts occur in developing countries, where the physical, human, and social capital lost through violence exacts disproportionate costs for development. Recognizing this, the PBR PI aims to contribute actively to the help Southern countries emerging from conflict avoid relapse into violence, by supporting research on and for peacebuilding processes. Through a range of projects, comparative analyses, and collaborative initiatives, PBR hopes to contribute to the emergence of innovative and strategic spaces for peacebuilding research, policy, and action.

International Peace Academy (IPA)

The International Peace Academy (IPA) is an independent, international institution dedicated to promoting the prevention and settlement of armed conflicts between and within states through policy research and development.

La Neta is a Mexican civil society organization that focuses on issues of public security, human rights and social justice. Its broad mandate is to advance both dialogue and action on ending human rights violations in the current era of democratic transition in Mexico. La Neta has focused not only on marginalized groups including women and children but also on issues of torture, arbitrary detention, and execution.

La seguridad ciudadana es uno de los reclamos sociales persistentes en los últimos años. En nombre de esta seguridad, los derechos humanos en México se han deteriorado de manera alarmante, paradójicamente vulnerando cada vez más esa seguridad ciudadana. Con preocupación observamos la falta de propuestas por parte de los actuales candidatos presidenciales y aún más, el ataque público del que ha sido objeto el respeto a los derechos humanos de la ciudadanía.

Nonviolent Peaceforce

As a civil society organization committed to conflict prevention, Nonviolent Peaceforce seeks to facilitate the creation of a trained, international civilian nonviolent peaceforce. These trained peaceforces are sent to conflict areas to prevent death and destruction and to protect human rights, thus creating the space for local groups to struggle nonviolently, enter into dialogue, and seek peaceful resolution.

North South Institute (NSI)

The North-South Institute (NSI) is the only independent research institute in Canada focused on international development. The Institute conducts research on Canada's relations with developing countries and on a wide range of foreign policy issues. Established in 1976, NSI is a non-profit and non-partisan organization.

Peace Brigades International (PBI), Colombia

Peace Brigades International (PBI) is an NGO which maintains international observer/ accompaniment teams in areas of conflict at the request of local organisations. The teams protect the political space of human rights defenders who suffer repression due to their non-violent work for human rights. International accompaniment is a way of transforming the conflict, where third parties can help create the conditions necessary to find solutions.

The Peacemakers Trust, Canada

Peacemakers Trust is a Canadian charitable organization dedicated to research and education on conflict resolution and peacebuilding.

Pearson Peacekeeping Center

The Pearson Peacekeeping Centre is an internationally recognized training centre for individuals and organizations involved in peace operations. Established in 1994 by the Government of Canada, the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre is an independent, non-profit organization whose mandate is to support Canada's contribution to international peace and security.

Project on Justice in Times of Transition, Harvard University

The Project on Justice in Times of Transition is an inter-faculty program of Harvard University under the auspices of the Law School, the Kennedy School of Government, and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The Project's work revolves around three overarching themes. These are: Coexistence and Reconciliation in Divided Societies with an emphasis on conflict resolution and peace-building; Institution-Building in Societies in Transition with attention to both governmental and non-governmental institutions; and Judicial Institutions in Societies in Transition.

Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI)

The task of SIPRI is to conduct research on questions of conflict and cooperation of importance for international peace and security, with the aim of contributing to an understanding of the conditions for peaceful solutions of international conflicts and for a stable peace.
