INDIGENOUS GOVERNANCE IN THE AMERICAS INTERN

Project Title;

Economic Opportunities and Indigenous Development Workshops

Project description:

This project involves investigation on indigenous governance in the Americas, focusing on the relationship between indigenous communities and extractive industries. Development of seminars and workshops with the participation of public servants, the private sector, indigenous communities and NGO’s are part of project activities.

Intern duties/responsibilities:

Translation from Spanish to English and vice versa of reports and materials written for publications such as FOCAL Point and policy briefs.

Essential skills/qualifications:

University degree with knowledge of indigenous governance and community development, indigenous land rights and/or mining activities in the Americas. The intern must speak Spanish and be able to accurately translate and edit materials in both English and Spanish.

Time commitment

A minimum of 8 hours a week

Job experience to be gained from internship

This position will expand the intern’s knowledge regarding indigenous governance in the Americas and other related issues. The intern will also gain experience in the translation and editing of documents.  Participation in project events will allow the intern to make valuable contacts and network, as well as further develop their knowledge and experience in this area.
