Alberta Institute for American Studies (AIAS), University of Alberta
The Institute’s mandate is to encourage and facilitate informed analysis and discussion of the policies and policy processes of the United States. In doing so, it seeks to fulfill a primary goal of providing informed counsel, based on sound research, to address Canada’s US specific challenges and opportunities. A secondary goal is to study the approaches that Americans take on policy issues, as they often provide Canadians with useful comparisons that inform our discussions and debates.
Canada West Foundation
The Foundation is a leading source of strategic insight, conducting and communicating non-partisan economic and public policy research of importance to the four western provinces and all Canadians. Its mandate is to explore public policy issues of particular interest to western Canadians, to test national policies against regional aspirations and to ensure an effective regional voice in national policy discussions and the national political process.
Center for Research on North America (CISAN), Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México
CISAN’s objective is to produce multi- and interdisciplinary research to contribute to knowledge about the United States and Canada and their relations with Mexico, as well as to foster the rigorous study of all three countries using different focuses that will allow for a better understanding of the many aspects of the complex North American reality. The CISAN seeks to promote objective and pluralist knowledge about the region through broad dissemination efforts and university extension services, as well as to enrich teaching activities in different undergraduate and graduate programs linked to our field of study.
Centre d’études interaméricaines (CEI), Université Laval
Le Centre d'études interaméricaines a pour vocation d'étudier l'évolution de la coopération interaméricaine dans la foulée des initiatives prises lors des Sommets des Amériques, dans des domaines tels l'intégration économique et le libre-échange, la démocratie et les droits humains, la santé et l'éducation, la sécurité hémisphérique ainsi que le développement durable. Le Centre s'est donné trois missions principales.
Centre for Trade Policy and Law (CTPL)
The Centre for Trade Policy and Law is a joint unit of Carleton University and the University of Ottawa with funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs Canada and International Trade. It has a mandate to promote teaching and research in trade policy and law; to promote greater understanding of trade policy issues; and to encourage the development of trade policy professionals.
Centro de Diálogo y Análisis sobre América del Norte (CEDAN), Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Ciudad de México
El CEDAN tiene como propósito convertirse en un espacio para el diálogo y el análisis sobre temas estratégicos y de coyuntura de la región de América del Norte, en particular aquéllos vinculados al proceso de integración y a la inserción de México en esta región. A través de estudios sistemáticos y diálogos plurales, el CEDAN busca coadyuvar al desarrollo de una agenda norteamericana a partir de una perspectiva global de los retos y las oportunidades que esta región enfrenta, sea en el ámbito de la migración internacional, el cambio climático, la seguridad, los recursos energéticos, la desigualdad y la competitividad económica.
Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE)
CIDE is one of Mexico’s most important centers of teaching and research in the social sciences. Recognized both nationally and internationally, CIDE has been a non-profit public institution since its establishment in Mexico City in 1974. Part of the network of highly specialized public centers for research and higher education coordinated by the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt), CIDE is fully committed to contributing to the development of Mexico through its demanding academic programs; rigorous, relevant research; and links to the public, private, social, and academic sectors.
Centro de Investigaciones sobre América del Norte (CISAN), Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México
El objetivo del CISAN es producir investigación multi e interdisciplinaria para contribuir al conocimiento de Estados Unidos y Canadá, y la relación de ambos con México, así como fomentar el estudio riguroso de los mismos a través de diversos enfoques que permitan una mejor comprensión de los distintos aspectos de la compleja realidad norteamericana.
Conference Board of Canada (CBOF)
The Conference Board builds leadership capacity for a better Canada by creating and sharing insights on economic trends, public policy and organizational performance.
Foreign Trade Information System (SICE)
The SICE website provides a comprehensive overview and complete documentation of all bilateral, trilateral and multilateral trade arrangements for the western hemisphere. Also maintained on the site is an up to date calendar of trade developments in the region.
Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA)
The official FTAA website provides an up-to-date overview of the FTAA process including links to all official documents, press releases, trade negotiating committee, special negotiating groups, the hemispheric cooperation program, trade and tariff database, and civil society activities.
Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM)
ITAM’s main purpose is to contribute to its students' comprehensive education and to the development of a more prosperous, just, and free society. It also aims to become a community in its fullest sense, an institution of academic freedom and excellence, and a high quality autonomous research center.
Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
As a regional development bank the IDB provides multilateral financing for economic, social and institutional development projects as well as trade and regional integration programs in Latin America and the Caribbean. The IDB endeavours to foster sustainable economic and social development throughout the LAC region. Public entities eligible to borrow from the Bank include national, provincial, state and municipal governments, and autonomous public institutions. Civil society organizations and private companies are also eligible.
Institute for International Economics (IIE)
The Institute for International Economics is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan research institution devoted to the study of international economic policy. Covering all the major economic regions of the world, IIE’s research focuses on new and ongoing trade negotiations at the multilateral, regional, and bilateral levels, global macroeconomic issues, trade and related social issues, investment, the international implications of new technologies, the restructuring of the international financial architecture.
International Monetary Fund (IMF)
The IMF is an organization of 184 countries, working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty.
Mexican Council on Foreign Relations (COMEXI)
COMEXI is the first and only pluralistic forum advocated to analyze and debate Mexico’s role in the international sphere, as well as the influence of such events in the national scene. It’s primary goal is to build a framework which allows for a free, open and informed discussion on international issues.
The NAFTA Secretariat includes sections for Canada, Mexico and the United States. Responsible for the administration of the dispute settlement provisions of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) the Secretariat website contains information on the dispute settlement proceedings, as well as legal texts and panel decisions and reports respecting the NAFTA.
Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR)
USTR, part of the Executive Office of the President, is a multi-agency body responsible for developing and coordinating U.S. international trade, commodity, and direct investment policy, and overseeing negotiations with other countries.
Portal for North America, Centre for International Governance and Innovation
Supporting CIGI’s mandate to promote research, form networks and foster dialogue to improve international governance, the Portal for North America (PNA) is the centerpiece of North American Governance activities at CIGI. By establishing a vast database of documents and online resources; generating a large network of communities, experts, policymakers, academics and students; and promoting knowledge exchange through a collection of teaching resources, including case studies and teaching notes, CIGI’s PNA seeks to identify and address key national and supranational issues confronting the North American continent today.

United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UN ECLAC)
ECLAC promotes economic and social development through regional and subregional cooperation in addition to providing research and support as well as bringing a regional perspective to global problems and forums and introducing global concerns to the Latin American and Caribbean members.
World Bank Group (WBG), Division for Latin America and the Caribbean
The WBG is a development Bank providing loans, policy advice, technical assistance and knowledge sharing services to low and middle income countries in an effort to reduce poverty. It is the world’s largest external source of funding for education and HIV/AIDS programs.
World Trade Organization (WTO)
The WTO is the only global international organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations centering on WTO agreements, negotiated and signed by the majority of the world’s trading nations and ratified in their parliaments. The goal of the WTO is to help producers of goods and services, exporters, and importers conduct their business.
